Who am I?
I’m Curt and I love Aruba! If you are reading this I am guessing you are pretty fond of the place as well.
I first discovered Aruba a decade or so ago during a 7 night Carnival cruise. Oddly enough it wasn’t love at first sight for me. At that time I kind of viewed Aruba as just another in a series of Southern Caribbean ports. I’m sure it had more to do with trying to test out Carnival’s reputation as a party cruise more than anything being wrong with Aruba since that entire trip is kind of a blur.
Now, after that initial cruise I would visit Aruba a few more times via cruise ship before eventually coming to the realization that one day in paradise just wasn’t enough. Well that’s not entirely true. Actually, I was on a cruise ship headed to Aruba that broke down before arriving. Since we never made it to our most sought after port a land vacation was in order. That was the last cruise we have gone on.
Since the cruise that never was, we started doing week long stays on the island. The first year it was just once but since then I try to get down at least twice each year. I know that’s not as many trips as so many people reading this but I actually count myself amongst the lucky few. Most people have to die before they get a chance to experience heaven. Those of us who have discovered Aruba get to visit as often as we can manage.
Why a Podcast About Aruba?
I’m no expert on Aruba and don’t want to pass myself off as anything that I am not. What I am is someone with an intense love for the island that wants to share that love with the world. That is where this podcast comes into play. Since the island of Aruba and the community of Aruba fans that exist on the internet have given me so much this is my effort of giving back.
Each episode of One Happy Podcast features me as the host interviewing a guest who has a unique connection with Aruba. Throughout the course of the interview we explore that connection for the benefit of the entire community.
For as long as they have existed I have been a huge fan of Podcasts. I listen to them on my commute, while I’m cooking, working out and just about every other scenario one could imagine. Some of the podcasts I listen to are for entertainment purposes while others are educational. One Happy Podcast is a bit of both; entertainment because the guests are so incredible and educational because the information shared on each episode is mindblowing.
